Top seeded Russian Nadia Petrova snared her second title of the season yesterday, defeating Bethanie Mattek in three at the Quebec Open.
Petrova rallied from a first set deficit to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 and now has eight career titles to her name - including the Cincinnati title in August.
“It was really wonderful to win this event,” said Petrova. “To finish off the season like this is wonderful.”
The 26-year-old will now have to hastily fly to the other side of the globe to contest the season-ending event in Doha this week.
“Now I have a long journey ahead of me to Doha, but it’ll definitely be worth it. And then it’ll be really nice to put the racquets aside for a few weeks!”
