Venus Triumphant In Zurich

Venus Williams seized her second title of the year yesterday by defeating Italy’s Flavia Pennetta 7-6(1), 6-2 at the Zurich Open.

Williams has now won both her final appearances of 2008 after a win at Wimbledon over younger sister Serena, but couldn’t be happier with her most recent win.

“This is a great tournament. I've always enjoyed coming here. It's great to be able to win it nine years after my last win here,” said the 28-year-old, who last won the title back in 1999.

In the doubles, top seeded duo Cara Black and Liezel Huber claimed their ninth piece of silverware for the year defeating Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Patty Schnyder 6-1, 7-6(3).
