Russia’s Nikolay Davydenko is the fifth player to qualify for the season-ending Tennis Masters event in Shanghai.

The 27-year-old will join the top four players, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray after a season where he yielded a match record of 48-18, and titles in Miami, Poertschach and Warsaw.

“I’m very happy to qualify to the Tennis Masters Cup for the fourth consecutive year,” said Davydenko.

“It is very special for me to play in Shanghai. The tournament is so good. The organization, the stadium, the hotel, the crowd, everything is great.”

There are now just three spots up for grabs, while up to 10 players will be vying for them over the remaining weeks of the regular season. The Shanghai Masters event will be played from November 9-16.
