Top seeded Serbian Ana Ivanovic stormed to her third title of the year with a straight sets demolition of Vera Zvonareva at the Generali Ladies tournament in Linz.
The Serb, currently World No. 4 after a brief stint at No. 1, brushed aside Zvonareva 6-2, 6-1 in just 51 minutes.
The impressive showing in Linz snapped a poor record of just seven wins and 14 losses for the 20-year-old prior to the tournament.
“When I went out there today I expected a very tough match, and I played well from the first point,” said Ivanovic, who won this year’s French Open title. “The score might make the match look like it was easier than it was, though - almost every point in the first set could've gone either way.”
“Every final is a new experience and winning a title is always special.”
After battling a broken thumb, which forced her out of of the Beijing Olympics, Ivanovic will enter the season ending Doha Masters tournament on the back of some solid form.
Meanwhile, Olympic gold medalist Elena Dementieva seized the Luxembourg title with a marathon 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(4) win over fourth seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki.
The title is Dementieva’s third for the season.
