Andy Roddick is the latest big-name to qualify for the Shanghai Masters after moving past Frenchman Gilles Simon and into the quarter-finals at the BNP Paribas Masters event in Paris.
The 6-3, 7-5 win meant Roddick became the sixth man to book his ticket to the season-ending tournament.
“It’s always an honor to qualify,” said Roddick after sealing his place in the Tennis Masters Cup for the sixth time.
“I think this is six straight years, so that’s a good accomplishment. They put on a great event there, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Top players Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Roger Federer all joined the American in the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters after each recorded comfortable straight set victories also.
