Elena Dementieva, the in-form player of the tournament, extended her winning streak this morning moving to the US Open semi-finals for the fourth time ever.
The Olympic champion was on fire throughout her quarter-final match against Swiss veteran and 15 th seed Patty Schnyder, barely putting a foot wrong en route to a 6-2, 6-3 win.
“I feel great,” said Dementieva, who will play Jelena Jankovic for a shot at a maiden Grand Slam title.
“It was a tough match. I was going very positive, very aggressive the whole way and I was very happy about that.”
The 26-year-old extended her run to 11 consecutive wins and has won all 10 sets played at Flushing Meadows without being pushed to a tiebreak.
