Swiss veteran Patty Schnyder seized her first title in three years yesterday, subduing giant-killing teen Tamira Paszek in the Bali Open final.
The second seed required just 67 minutes to claim her first title since Cincinnati in July 2005.
“I’m very happy and also very tired,” said Schnyder after the 6-3, 6-0 thumping. “It’s been an amazing summer with the Olympics, the US Open and here.”
“I really wanted to win this tournament and I did. I’m very happy.”
Schnyder ended a string of seven finals losses since 2007 and continued the form shown by a quarter-final appearance at the US Open.
